Four top Economics students from Morley Senior High School participated in an Economic Forum organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia (CCIWA). The event featured a keynote address from Sam Collins, Senior Economist at the CCIWA, who provided an overview of the current state of the Western Australian economy and discussed key challenges.
Steven Kemp, the author of the students’ Economics textbook and the ATAR Chief Marker, followed with an insightful analysis of trends from the previous year’s examination paper. He also offered predictions and suggestions for this year’s exam questions, sparking an engaging discussion among the students eager for examination tips.
The forum concluded with a team activity where participants addressed current economic challenges. Tahiyya and Olivia, Year 12 Economics students from Morley SHS, presented their analysis on distinct topics. Tahiyya explored the impact of the Australian dollar’s depreciation on the balance of payments, while Olivia examined the Reserve Bank of Australia’s (RBA) goal of price stability.
The forum highlighted the impressive calibre of the students involved, suggesting that Australia’s economic future and prosperity are in capable hands.
