Welcome to the Morley Senior High School BYOD Portal

We are excited to have you as a part of our educational community and appreciate your commitment to creating a safe and productive digital learning environment. Our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy is designed to help you make the most of your technology while ensuring a secure and respectful online experience for everyone.

At Morley Senior High School, we believe in harnessing the power of technology to enhance the learning experience. Our BYOD program allows students to use their own devices as valuable tools for education, research, and collaboration. We use ICT extensively to support our student’s learning

Additionally, We continue to invest in online programs to enrich and support each child’s learning improving the rate at which they learn and the way they learn.

Your Role in Ensuring a Positive Digital Environment

  • As a student, you play a vital role in using technology responsibly and respectfully. Our policy provides guidelines on how to maintain a secure, respectful, and inclusive digital community.
  • Parents and guardians are encouraged to support their children in understanding and complying with our BYOD policy. Together, we can ensure a safe and enriching digital learning environment.

At  Morley SHS there are two approaches for parents to purchase a laptop for their children. We will offer the “full service” model from CompNow as well as a source-your-own option to parents to purchase a laptop from any suitable vendor provided it meets the minimum specifications. We believe in giving parents some choice on which device their child uses. The following specifications ensure the device can be supported within the Morley SHS network. We do not recommend a Chromebook , iPad or Macbook. Windows laptop integrates more effectively into our ICT workflow.

Device Specifications

Devices should comply with the minimum specs listed below:

Operating System : Windows 10 Pro or 11 Pro
Processor : i5 or better (PC)
RAM : 8GB (16GB preferred)
Screen Size : 12 inches or larger
Battery Life : 8 hours (recommended)
Storage : 256GB SSD or better
Wireless                        : 5Ghz Band Compatibility (802.11ac)

(If the device does not meet this wireless requirement, it will not have access to the network)

For PC, we recommend touch screen laptops with a pen. The pen allows students to easily annotate electronic notes, maintain handwriting skills and actively participate in lessons to embed learning. Several are available on the CompNow portal.

Please note that Edstart is also available to potentially assist with financing solutions.
