Course Outline

Certificate II in Sport and Recreation (delivered by AIET RTO 121314) This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual wishing to work in the sport and recreation industry. Likely functions for someone with this qualification can include providing support in the provision of sport and recreation programs, grounds and facilities maintenance,
retail and customer service assistance, administrative assistance in locations such as fitness centres, outdoor sporting grounds or complexes and aquatic centres.

Students should have a strong interest in the sport and recreation industry if they are choosing to enrol in this course. Students are encouraged to be involved in sporting/recreation areas outside of school. It is also recommended students have a good fitness and skills base developed in lower school Physical Education and a desire to improve in both areas. The focus will be on range of sports including netball, basketball, lawn bowls, golf, tennis, volleyball and many others. This course is delivered over two years. and 13 units must be completed by students to receive the qualification, comprised of 8 core units and five elective units from the list below.
