Course Outline

The General Music course encourages students to explore a range of musical experiences which develop their music skills and understanding as well as their musical creativity. The course consists of a written component incorporating aural and theory elements as well as composition and arranging skills. Students will investigate and analyse an array of pieces that are in the contemporary style. This includes Pop, Rock, Folk, Grunge and Electronic music. The practical component of this course allows students to select an instrument or voice for practical tasks, providing opportunity for further creative expression. Students in this course will develop a composition portfolio that provides an opportunity to write, arrange and record a collection of songs.
