Course Outline
In the Geography General course students learn how to investigate how the natural environment and human activity are related. The course uses information from primary and secondary sources such as field observations, data collection, mapping and remote sensing (GIS). Students develop skills such as collecting first hand data from fieldwork to writing reports on topics of interests. The course looks at how the distribution of locations, of people, and specifics physical environments are located across the landscape. Students develop knowledge and skills that allow them to explain patterns and processes related to the environment they live in. This course looks at environments at risk and explores ways to protect environments through management at local, regional and global levels.
